Beginning next month, the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles will dedicate an exhibit to the late Joan Rivers. According to the museum’s announcement of the show, the exhibit will feature photographs, awards, and costumes, as well as “one of her vintage Louis Vuitton travel trunks.” The exhibit will run from June 8 until September 20. “Joan Rivers’ unapologetic one-liners and brave, biting commentary on her personal life opened doors for other female comedians,” Bob Santelli, executive director of the Grammy Museum, said in a statement.
“Earlier this year, The Recording Academy awarded my mother her very first Grammy, which was truly an honor,” Melissa Rivers added. “To her, comedy was music. There was a rhythm, but instead of notes, there were words. And just like any of her fellow Grammy Award winners who have been on exhibition in the museum, you know she loved to play.” As Billboard notes, Joan Rivers was left out of the Grammys’ “In Memoriam” tribute earlier this year despite winning her first Grammy earlier in the evening.
