It is a time to share and be grateful for all that is good in our lives.
And Emmy Rossum led the way as a galaxy of stars turned out to help serve thousands of meals to homeless people in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
She was joined by the likes of Melissa Rivers, Reno 911 star Niecy Nash and Everybody Loves Raymond favourite Patricia Heaton as they took part in the special event.
They were among the more than 500 volunteers in attendance helping out at the Los Angeles Mission event.
Countless pounds of sweet potatoes, 80 gallons of gravy and 600 pumpkin pies were all given away, with the stars manfully doing their bit.
An impressive 5,000 meals in total were handed out to those in need in the city’s notorious Skid Row area.
Shameless star Emmy looked radiant in a black sweater, trousers and utilitarian flat shoes and certainly wore her special LA Mission apron very well indeed.
Thankfully for her there was no string cheese being served, as the svelte starlet would have been unable to resist tucking in after recently revealing she is so addicted to the children’s snack that ‘I can’t keep them in the house.’
Fashion Police favourite Melissa, 47, also had a great time taking part, and even gave her embarrassed son Cooper Endicott a meaty peck on the cheek as they larked around at the jovial event.
And helping was all the sweeter as he was also homeless in the past. He told ABC7: ‘It is so good to be clean and sober for the last 16 years and to be able to give back to somebody who’s not able to feed themselves.
Esquire Magazine’s Chef of the Year for 2015 Ray Garcia had also shared his time, not to mention his skills and special recipes, to help feed the thousands of homeless people who turned up for the annual event.
