The reality TV actress says keeping water clean is important. “I live by the water.”
The global movement of clean-water gets a new champion in star of WEtv’s Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best?
What: The Waterkeeper Alliance is a global movement of clean-water advocates founded in 1999 by environmental attorney and activist Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and several veteran waterkeeper organizations. It patrols and protects more than 100,000 miles of rivers, streams and coastlines.
Why: “It’s local and global” in its efforts, Rivers says. “When you first start out in the business, you lend your name to everything, then you figure out what’s important. I live by the water; we both surf,” Rivers says about life with her son, Cooper. The two often attend local Waterkeeper Alliance events together. “They’re making tangible progress to clean up waterways and hold companies accountable.”
